We have been told to look out for 'city tax' - what exactly is this?

Question

We are moving to Glasgow in June on business and have a strict housing allowance of 900 pounds a month.  We've heard that we need to consider "city tax" when we consider how much we can spend on renting/letting a flat. Have you heard of this?  How much a month should we expect to pay in tax in addition to our monthly rent?

James says

I have never heard of "city tax". Could it perhaps mean council tax? I suggest you ask an estate agent in the area how much you could expect to pay.
